Preserving Our Story

Yearbook | Editorial Leadership & Visual Storytelling

Yearbook became more than a class, it became a responsibility. As Editor in Chief, I led the editorial vision, storytelling, and design of our school’s yearbook, working collaboratively to capture moments that define our community. This role strengthened my ability to shape narratives, manage creative teams, and balance vision with execution, all while producing something meant to last beyond the moment.

The Adventure Awaits

In my first year on the yearbook team, I pitched the theme The Adventure Awaits, inspired by the idea of postcards capturing journeys and shared memories. While the postcard concept remained, the theme evolved into something more meaningful, focusing on showcasing each student’s unique journey throughout the year. Following this pitch, I was selected as editor in chief, overseeing the yearbook from start to finish. I worked closely with my team to bring the vision to life, guiding the creation of a cohesive “postcard journey” that reflected our shared experiences. I am incredibly proud of the final result, as it captures the adventure each of us lived and shared.

Go For Gold

In my senior year on the yearbook team, each member pitched theme ideas, and while mine was not selected, the theme Go for Gold immediately stood out. Originally proposed by first-year members, the concept resonated with the entire team for its celebratory and goal-oriented spirit. I was honored when the team asked me to take on a leadership role in making the final design decisions, serving as editor in chief for a second year. Together, we transformed the original “literary Olympics” concept and medal iconography into a modern, innovative design. By reimagining the Olympic rings and incorporating cutouts and creative techniques, we gave the book a sleek and cohesive visual identity. The experience was deeply meaningful, allowing us to bring the team’s shared vision to life in a way that felt fresh and true to our journey.
